HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLOG!!!

xoxo

What's on TV?

So I owe this blog and you readers some quality time, I just haven't had it. Working with X Games this summer was a blast and a dream come true and I can't even begin to describe how amazing, crazy and busy it was. I have full intentions of eventually posting photos of that and maybe a post... but right now we're all getting ready for Winter X (January 27th -30th in Aspen, CO!) So it might have to wait.

Anyway, moving on from the past, presently FUEL TV seems to have some cool new moto shows. I'm currently cable-less so haven't been able to watch Crusty's Dirt Demons but the trailer is killer and I might have to try to track down some episodes for myself. I believe the season ended this week. Anyone get to watch? What did you think? Here's the trailer for those who haven't seen it yet...

In more up to date news, Bubba's World is back on FUEL TV!! Returning December 2nd, this season seems to be a little more serious and intense than last season's antics. More about the sport and his training.. It looks good and I'm definitely hoping to have my cable situation figured out by then...

Anyway, I'm hoping I'll be able to post again soon. Just got my computer upgraded and it moves sooooo much faster so I feel like I've added an extra hour to my day!! So pumped! Oh but if you miss me, I'm doing mini-blogs daily for the X Games MySpace page at myspace.com/xgames so check it out!

As always,

Peace, Love & Moto

X and Y

So here I am again, a neglected blog, left without new content for what seems like ages. To be fair I've been off traveling and enjoying the beginnings of summer but more importantly I've started a new job over at ESPN helping market the X Games! Yes, it's as cool as it sounds. And this years X Games is going to be NUTS. So excited to watch it all come together and can't wait to see it all in action. The athlete lists are stacked, the courses are super gnarly and having it all in downtown LA this year is going to be mad fun. But while X is still about a month away (but buy your tickets here now!) I'll be out with the marketing crew spreading the word and passing out some sick swag (as seen on my twitter). So I'll be keeping you posted here on where we'll be and where you can pick up an awesome Bilko poster or a sick X Games sixteen skate deck.

First stop is the Long Beach Hood Games (although there won't be any of those Bilko posters I just mentioned, but we're gonna have lots of our skate poster featuring Bob Burnquist on hand. It's in Orizaba Park THIS SATURDAY (aka TOMORROW!!) from 11-4. So stop by, do a kick flip or two (or not) and grab your X Games 16 swag.

Oh and did I mention I'm still working for Group Y?! Not only that but they're having a moto panel discussion on the future of the industry next Wednesday June 30th!! And it's being held at the La Jolla Group headquarters (they're the big company Metal Mulisha is a part of) and being co-presented by Transworld Business.

So here are the deets:

here's a shot of me with the Group Y team! So come down Wednesday and kick it with us and the rest of the moto industry. It's gonna be tiggghhhttt.

That's all I have for now, I promise I'll try to be better at updating and keeping you guys in the loop with X Games (but for super up to the date info you should follow @XGames on twitter, or add them on MySpace, or "like" them on Facebook and be sure to check out their YouTube channel)

group Y!

Hey everyone!

I know content has been slow over here, but I've been busy with a new job! I've been working on some rad industry profiles over on the action sports networking group, Group Y's website. Go check out groupYnetworks.com and you'll see my first two interviews, Stephanie Weber of SnL Communications and Blair Young from Boarding 4 Breast Cancer and get a look at the people BEHIND the brands and athletes.

Keep your eyes open there for weekly profiles (which I'll probably remind you of here too!) and I have some videos that will be over there soon as well!

And if you aren't familiar with group Y I HIGHLY recommend you check them out while your over there. They are THE networking group of the industry. Come by next time we have an event and mix and mingle (you can check out some of the amazing past events here). I'll be sure to post info here too!

Digitally Re-Mastered...

So some of you all might remember my first video of Ross Rides Day that I put up on this site where I did an interview with Mulisha general Brian Deegan... the video was WAAAYYY grainy and there were lots of awkward gaps and pauses. But now, as my editing skills continue to improve I'm proud to present to you the newly re-mastered video, where you can actually see our faces!!

So if you want to see the video in higher def and with quite different editing and composition of clips and such I hope you take the time to enjoy it again! If you haven't seen it, well then just enjoy!

Moto in the Streets

Hey everyone!

Sorry things have been slow around here... with Supercross off to the East Coast there isn't much going on in terms of events and such over here. And while I haven't been busy here lots of other things have been stealing my time away. Anyway, I still don't have much to report but I stumpled across this video over at ESPN Action and it HAD to be shared. How crazy is this?! Doesn't it just trip you out to see a quad on a normal street... insane...

I couldn't figure out how to embed this video but just click the link and you'll be set! So enjoy these gnarily Baltimore kids and watch them do their thing.

Also, I know I've already posted this on my Facebook page and Twitter but I just had to share my lovely new licsence plate frame one last time! One of my best friends Bita got made for my bday!!! (She's the one eating all the pasta in the Big B vid)

Yay so exciting! Also I have some new really exciting things coming up!! Can't wait to share em with all of you!

fuel it up!

Hey everyone!

So I know I've been M.I.A. for a bit. I was under the impression that your last semester of college was supposed to be a breeze, psh, I was grossly misinformed. But despite the dreary days and nights of papers and research studies, there is just far too much exciting moto news to get too down!

For one, if you haven't noticed already, FUEL TV has launched their new series "The Moto: Inside the Outdoors." As an intern over at FUEL TV I got to view a screener of the first episode a few months ago and loved it and couldn't wait till it aired. The show follows crowd favorite and Supercross rookie Ryan Dungey (btw how in love with him are you?! watching him kill it this season has been so fun!), Ryan Villopoto, Andrew Short, and the currently injured Josh Grant and Chad Reed. So between 2010 Supercross races be sure to catch a behind the scenes look at these boys as the compete in last years AMA Outdoor series. If you missed the premier episode (which was Feb 17th) you better set your clocks (or TiVo) for Wednesdays at 11:00 pm so you don't miss another moment!

And Bubba fans! Heads up! You won't be seeing James Stewart on this show, but don't change the channel, he'll be making his TV appearance on FUEL TV in his upcoming reality series "Bubba's World" which starts Sunday March 28, 2010 at 10:00 pm. But don't expect to see the rigerous training that's behind this motocross superstar's medals. No, Bubba takes some time off of his intense schedule and finds out what it's like to be a "normal" 23 year old, if you can call flying around the country and hanging out with superstar friends "normal." I got to view this too a couple months ago and let me tell you, so funny. Who knew his family antics could be so entertaining!

So get reacquainted with your couch this month... you may be there awhile!

I had so much more I was going to ramble on about today, but I think that's good for now. So until next time...

I Am What I Am, I'm A Hooligan

Time for another video!! This one is long overdue due to technical difficulties but all has been solved now! This vid is from this year's Supercross opener in Anaheim. While wandering around the pits with my best friend and camera girl Bita Masjedi grabbing interviews for my FUEL TV article, I was lucky enough to grab an interview with my favorite rapper Big B!!! And on camera no less! It may not have ended up in the FUEL TV article but now, a month later, for your enjoyment I present Big B!

New York, New York.... It's A Hell Of A Town

Check this out! I wandered over to Metal Mulisha's website to see what their blog had going on and saw this! How sick is that! FMX taking over time square! Tiiiiight.

You've hit the big time boys. Congrats!

Also FUEL TV (which I'll be returning to next week!! YAYYYY!! I've missed them so) will be airing a "Behind the Scenes" of Nuclear Cowboyz (click the link to find out when their live show rolls through a town near you) show throughout the month... check out the Mulisha blog for air dates and more deets. And you should really just go check out their blog in general, those boys have so much going on right now!

Also, I tweeted the link to Racer X's list of injured racers but incase you missed it click here and update yourself before this weeks race in San Diego!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Luxe Skulls

While everyone else is buzzing about Supercross and this weekend's race, I was unable to attend and therefore am blogging about something totally unrelated. Although I'm pumped Dungey continues to prove what an awesome rider he is, you can catch highlights and interviews on every other site so without further ado I'm mixing it up and bringing you a lifestyle post.

I'm obsessed with skulls. I'm not talking about Hot Topic "punk" skulls. I'm not talking about Skullcandy, I'm not even talking about the Metal Mulisha skull (although I got nothing but love for the little guy). I'm talking breaking the bank, over the top, luxe skulls. Don't believe me... let's start from the top.

This look familiar to anyone?

If it does, you've been keeping up with the art scene, or perhaps you've seen a similar skull in Jay-Z's "On To The Next One" video (below. Which I'm also OBSESSED with right now, hence the black and white color scheme on this post, not the usual pink) Anyway, this diamond encrusted skull aka "For The Love of God" was done by artist Damien Hirst and will cost you a cool $100 million dollars. That's right, ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS. You know, incase you have nothing better to spend your money on...

So moving on since that's not in my budget and (I hope) not in yours... (if it is hit me up, let's be friends!)

Now I wear rings, lots of rings. And bracelets, lots of bracelets. So it's no surprise that any sort of hand jewelry catches my eye. Check out this skeletal beauty.

Ugh. Sooo cool! Now this boney piece by Delfina Delettrez will cost you a mere $30, 420... a bargain compared to my last skull. You can order it here if you have 30 grand to spend, you can even order one for each hand if you like.

Still not in your price range? Me neither, I just have expensive taste...

Alexander McQueen has been selling his luxe skulls for a few seasons now...

I LOVE his red Knuckle Duster clutch and have wanted it for sometime now, but it's no longer available :( however, the Knuckle Dusters without the clutch can be purchased for $550

The single skull clutch though is available in tons of colors still for about $1000 over at McQueen's website. The single skulls also come in rings and come in as my cheapest skull yet at $320.

Okay, time to get a little more realistic... well let's be honest there is nothing practical or realistic about "luxe skulls" to begin with but any way...

I have loved DL & Co since they came out with their 7 Deadly Sins line back in '08 that inspired a whole 7 deadly sins series of posts over on my other blog Raining Hats and Clogs. Any way, their Memento Mori collection is full of luxe skull items. I love hand writing letters and love the class and edge the stationary set combines. The set of dice with skulls and number 13s is titled Rotten Luck and is just so cool. The dice set is $195 and the stationary is $175

Pulling us into double digits at a slightly more reasonable price is my last skull which holds... vodka!

Now apparently there is a whole story and sorta mysticism that goes along with Crystal Head Vodka but if you just want it as a bar decoration (which would look soooo tight) you can purchase it here and at other liquor stores for $50.

I bet you had no idea skulls could be so high class...

until next time...

peace, love & overpriced skulls

"Party In The USA"

I've never been a fancy headset person, I just use the cheapy earbuds the iPods come with... I also break and lose said earbuds more often than I can count... and let me tell you, those aren't so cheap anymore when you're on your 5th replacement pack. That being said, Troy Lee Designs came to my rescue with these bad boys...

That's right, your eyes do not deceive you, TLD teamed up with Skullcandy to create these sick headphones (that are def not as easy to loose... woot!) The clean white color is super fresh and any moto fan would be silly to rock anything else.

Whether I'm rocking out to metal, putting my hands up for Miley or let's face it listening to my forever favorites Blink-182 the sound quality is PERFECT. Also, I'm not sure if you're supposed to do this with them but they get loud enough that they make pretty good speakers as well... I never understood music-snobs' obsession with big headphones but now I see, they make A WORLD of difference.

To get your own moto and music hybrid Skullcandy headsets head over to Skullcandy's site

I think it's safe to say they get my stamp of approval!

peace, love & rock

p.s.

for those of you looking for something to listen too and are longing for the good ole' days of '09 check DJ Earworms remix of the year. It's uh-mazing... and I've been listening to it on constant replay for the last 2 weeks... it makes me want to party... with sunglasses on...

A bit late..

I know A2 is a mere few days away and I'm totally slacking but incase you haven't seen it yet here is the coverage I did of A1 for FUEL TV with Jenna Siriani and Joseph Valencia. Check it!

Ringing in 2010 with Troy Lee Designs!

Happy 2010 everyone! Hope your holidays were a blast! I always love new years and the false sense of fresh starts and the need for resolutions and change. I can't lie, I fall victim to all that too, but I just love it and embrace it, everyone needs to start over from time to time. I've been cleaning, organizing and scheduling like a mad lady and now it's time for the first blog post of the year!

I was lucky enough back in 2009, the second to last day of 2009 to be exact, to get a behind the scenes peak at Troy Lee Designs Headquarters. Let me tell you, soooooo cool!! It is a little slice of moto heaven. And with Supercross season starting up in a mere 5 days I thought a look inside TLD couldn't be more perfect!

Mark Sperling, who co-founded group Y with Liz Randall (check them out here and their fb fanpage too!) whom I intern for, let me come down for the day to check out his new office, which was awesome.

So without further ado, I present to you my second "Behind the Scenes" post.

Their show room is amazing, impressive and beauuuuutiful! Look at those bikes!

Check out those helmets and Travis Pastrana's bar spin bike!

The garage!

Me with Troy Lee himself!

Their wall of collab projects! Sooo cool! Troy Lee Designs has everything from Hot Wheels cars to sneakers, goggles with Oakley and even killer Skullcandy headsets (which I was lucky enough to get my hands on so check back to read all about them!)

As always, more pictures are available on my FB fan page so don't forget to go check it out! Don't forget to come back here and check out even more TLD goodies later this week and visit their website at troyleedesigns.com until then!
