Luxe Skulls

While everyone else is buzzing about Supercross and this weekend's race, I was unable to attend and therefore am blogging about something totally unrelated. Although I'm pumped Dungey continues to prove what an awesome rider he is, you can catch highlights and interviews on every other site so without further ado I'm mixing it up and bringing you a lifestyle post.

I'm obsessed with skulls. I'm not talking about Hot Topic "punk" skulls. I'm not talking about Skullcandy, I'm not even talking about the Metal Mulisha skull (although I got nothing but love for the little guy). I'm talking breaking the bank, over the top, luxe skulls. Don't believe me... let's start from the top.

This look familiar to anyone?

If it does, you've been keeping up with the art scene, or perhaps you've seen a similar skull in Jay-Z's "On To The Next One" video (below. Which I'm also OBSESSED with right now, hence the black and white color scheme on this post, not the usual pink) Anyway, this diamond encrusted skull aka "For The Love of God" was done by artist Damien Hirst and will cost you a cool $100 million dollars. That's right, ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS. You know, incase you have nothing better to spend your money on...

So moving on since that's not in my budget and (I hope) not in yours... (if it is hit me up, let's be friends!)

Now I wear rings, lots of rings. And bracelets, lots of bracelets. So it's no surprise that any sort of hand jewelry catches my eye. Check out this skeletal beauty.

Ugh. Sooo cool! Now this boney piece by Delfina Delettrez will cost you a mere $30, 420... a bargain compared to my last skull. You can order it here if you have 30 grand to spend, you can even order one for each hand if you like.

Still not in your price range? Me neither, I just have expensive taste...

Alexander McQueen has been selling his luxe skulls for a few seasons now...

I LOVE his red Knuckle Duster clutch and have wanted it for sometime now, but it's no longer available :( however, the Knuckle Dusters without the clutch can be purchased for $550

The single skull clutch though is available in tons of colors still for about $1000 over at McQueen's website. The single skulls also come in rings and come in as my cheapest skull yet at $320.

Okay, time to get a little more realistic... well let's be honest there is nothing practical or realistic about "luxe skulls" to begin with but any way...

I have loved DL & Co since they came out with their 7 Deadly Sins line back in '08 that inspired a whole 7 deadly sins series of posts over on my other blog Raining Hats and Clogs. Any way, their Memento Mori collection is full of luxe skull items. I love hand writing letters and love the class and edge the stationary set combines. The set of dice with skulls and number 13s is titled Rotten Luck and is just so cool. The dice set is $195 and the stationary is $175

Pulling us into double digits at a slightly more reasonable price is my last skull which holds... vodka!

Now apparently there is a whole story and sorta mysticism that goes along with Crystal Head Vodka but if you just want it as a bar decoration (which would look soooo tight) you can purchase it here and at other liquor stores for $50.

I bet you had no idea skulls could be so high class...

until next time...

peace, love & overpriced skulls

"Party In The USA"

I've never been a fancy headset person, I just use the cheapy earbuds the iPods come with... I also break and lose said earbuds more often than I can count... and let me tell you, those aren't so cheap anymore when you're on your 5th replacement pack. That being said, Troy Lee Designs came to my rescue with these bad boys...

That's right, your eyes do not deceive you, TLD teamed up with Skullcandy to create these sick headphones (that are def not as easy to loose... woot!) The clean white color is super fresh and any moto fan would be silly to rock anything else.

Whether I'm rocking out to metal, putting my hands up for Miley or let's face it listening to my forever favorites Blink-182 the sound quality is PERFECT. Also, I'm not sure if you're supposed to do this with them but they get loud enough that they make pretty good speakers as well... I never understood music-snobs' obsession with big headphones but now I see, they make A WORLD of difference.

To get your own moto and music hybrid Skullcandy headsets head over to Skullcandy's site

I think it's safe to say they get my stamp of approval!

peace, love & rock

p.s.

for those of you looking for something to listen too and are longing for the good ole' days of '09 check DJ Earworms remix of the year. It's uh-mazing... and I've been listening to it on constant replay for the last 2 weeks... it makes me want to party... with sunglasses on...

A bit late..

I know A2 is a mere few days away and I'm totally slacking but incase you haven't seen it yet here is the coverage I did of A1 for FUEL TV with Jenna Siriani and Joseph Valencia. Check it!

Ringing in 2010 with Troy Lee Designs!

Happy 2010 everyone! Hope your holidays were a blast! I always love new years and the false sense of fresh starts and the need for resolutions and change. I can't lie, I fall victim to all that too, but I just love it and embrace it, everyone needs to start over from time to time. I've been cleaning, organizing and scheduling like a mad lady and now it's time for the first blog post of the year!

I was lucky enough back in 2009, the second to last day of 2009 to be exact, to get a behind the scenes peak at Troy Lee Designs Headquarters. Let me tell you, soooooo cool!! It is a little slice of moto heaven. And with Supercross season starting up in a mere 5 days I thought a look inside TLD couldn't be more perfect!

Mark Sperling, who co-founded group Y with Liz Randall (check them out here and their fb fanpage too!) whom I intern for, let me come down for the day to check out his new office, which was awesome.

So without further ado, I present to you my second "Behind the Scenes" post.

Their show room is amazing, impressive and beauuuuutiful! Look at those bikes!

Check out those helmets and Travis Pastrana's bar spin bike!

The garage!

Me with Troy Lee himself!

Their wall of collab projects! Sooo cool! Troy Lee Designs has everything from Hot Wheels cars to sneakers, goggles with Oakley and even killer Skullcandy headsets (which I was lucky enough to get my hands on so check back to read all about them!)

As always, more pictures are available on my FB fan page so don't forget to go check it out! Don't forget to come back here and check out even more TLD goodies later this week and visit their website at troyleedesigns.com until then!
